December | A Card a Day challenge

Buoyed by the fact that I managed to make a card a day in November, I signed on for a rinse repeat in December.

Unfortunately, this time I only made it to Day 16. On Day 17 I was just so pissed off with the world and myself and the thought of making a card felt like such a chore. Which is when you know you need to pack it in for a while. Which is what I did.

I spent the rest of the month crocheting; made two lovely scarves, some chickens and penguins; started on a new blanket. It was a busy second half and by 31st of December, I was ready to make some more cards 🙂

Here’s the first 16 cards I made in December.

Day 1

day-1-card-1
The background is Paper Artsy Infusions on gel medium. I stamped the owl on a book page, water coloured it in and used gel medium to adhere it to the card.

Day 2

day-2-card-2
I like the background on this one. It’s been Cricut embossed and then coloured using Paper Artsy Infusions + gel medium. The reindeer was a freebie die from a magazine. The sentiment was heat embossed.

Day 3

day-3-card-3
Just a simple stamp that was watercoloured with a doodle border. The wordsigs are from Tim Holtz’s Words stickers

Day 4

day-4-card-4
I bought some dies from China and this is the first of the lot. They work really well and are so much cheaper than the branded ones.

Day 5

day-5-card-5
This one I am very pleased with. It’s simple but so effective. I reversed embossed it using some green ink and added a ribbon and a poinsettia. Easy peas!

Day 6

day-6-card-6
Simple but effective, no?

Day 7

day-7-card-7
I’ve used the free stamps from Creative Stamping’s. I messed up the heat embossing on the sentiment, but there you go

Day 8

day-8-card-8
This is a messy card but I really do like it. It started life as something entirely different and ended up being painted over and over with Winsor & Newton inks. I think the sentiment says it all.

Day 9

day-9-card-9
Another Winsor & Newton card. I like how colourful it is.

Day 10

day-10-card-10
Laurence bought me this lovely Dreamweaver stencil; couldn’t wait to use it. Used Pebeo iridescent acrylic paint with absolutely no water to give it a raised look.

Day 11

day-11-card-11
Another Dreamweaver stencil; this time I used dull gold acrylic paint. In retrospect the reindeer might be too tone-on-tone. I tried several colours but nothing seemed to work!

Day 12

day-12-card-12
Thematically, it’s the same as Day 9 and as you can see, I was beginning to flounder. It’s still a pretty card and am sure it will be well received when I do send it.

Day 13

day-13-card-13
I do like this one; the stamps are from Blade Rubber Company and the inks are Memento

Day 14

day-14-card-14
Can’t wait to send this one out! The stamps are Paper Asylum and the inks are the mini Memento pads.

Day 15

day-15-card-15
I love this stamp set:) I used crayolas to colour it in and a Poloroid die-cut to frame the stamped image.

Day 16

day-16-card-16
I have used this image before. It’s cut out from a Rab tag (I had bought Laurence a fleece 🙂 )

And that was as far as I got in December.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a Happy New year!
